Chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes). Gambia River National Park. This is a Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Project located in the Gambia River National Park. It was created in 1979 under the inactive Stella Brewer and a hundred chimpanzees live freely in four groups. The primary mission of the rehabilitation center is the care and reintroduction of chimpanzees to The Gambia. The center allows visits in small boats to see the primates, but visitors cannot have contact with them.
