Two buildings incorporating Trombe walls near the Odeillo solar furnace, Pyrenees-Orientales, France. Such buildings incorporate a solid masonry wall positioned immediately behind a glass facade to capture solar heat. The heated wall acts like a radiator, storing heat and circulating it as needed throughout the rest of the building. This is a form of passive solar heating, or passive solar design. The Trombe wall is named after its inventor, Felix Trombe, who pioneered the development of solar furnaces at nearby Odeillo.
