James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) image of starburst galaxy Messier 82 (M82). M82 is around 12 million light-years away from Earth in the constellation Ursa Major. M82 is the site of rapid star formation, with new stars forming 10 times faster than in the Milky Way. This star formation, coupled with supernovas, is generating galactic wind (high velocity wind from stars), which is being studied to understand the effects that the loss of gas has on galaxy formation. Image captured by JWST's Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam).
