Light micrograph of prostate glands with cystic atrophy. Cystic atrophy is a benign change in the prostate and is characterized by dilated spaces (white) lined by prostate glandular cells with attenuated amounts of cytoplasm. These cells line the thin septa (pink) of the cysts. The cysts also contain some proteinaceous secretions (blue granular material in white spaces). Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section. Magnification: 100x when printed at 10 centimetres.
