Flesh fly. This genus of true flies occurs worldwide and are known as common flesh flies (Sarcophaga) resting on a branch in a garden habitat. The larvae feed on rotting flesh, hence the name. It is not possible to tell different species apart without microscopic examination. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in September.
