Vine weevil (Otiorhynchus sulcatus). Considered a pest by gardeners, the larvae of the vine weevil feed on the roots of a wide range of herbaceous plants and can be particularly damaging to plants in containers. This weevil is native in Europe but also found in North America. Photographed in Somerset UK, in August.
