Male December moth (Poecilocampa populi) resting on a branch in a garden habitat. A large and distinctive moth, as the name suggests this moth is on the wing from October through to late December. This species is a member of the lasiocampidae family and is found throughout Europe, northern Asia and Japan. The larval food plants are a wide range of deciduous trees such as oak and poplar.
