Early morning shot of a parasitic wasp (Braconinae sp.) resting on top of a flowering bud of a plantain. This is a small wasp at around 5mm in length. Braconinae are a large subfamily of wasps with over 2000 species described. Host species are normally Lepidoptera or Coleoptera, paralysing their host before laying eggs on the exterior. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in May.
