Broadway stars plane to save eggs and meat during the coming winter . Taking the lead on Broadway , the 75 performers at the Plymouth Theatre who are starring in the smash hit musical revue " Call Me Mister" plan to cooperate with the Citizens ' Food Committee . They are signing a pledge and when it is all signed up , they are going to send it through the US mail to President Truman . They pledge to observe meatless Tuesday and eggless Thrusday , and by so doing they hope to save 350 dozen eggs and 1,200 lbs of meat during the critical months between November and April .
