Our school celebrates national day annually and organise activities such as sumo wrestling, boxing and dunking. Pretty interesting right? It was one day before the celebration, and I was tasked to make a poster for cheering for our classmate, Nigel Tay. He had a boxing match on the following day and I did not have my primary camera at that time. Thus, I had no choice but to use my phone, the Sony Xperia Z5. As it was spontaneous, I needed an idea quickly. That was when I thought of a pose which required Nigel to hold a chair up in the air. This was to express physical strength and power which will boost his confidence and determination. My classroom's artificial light was poor as it was slightly leaning towards the warmer side casting an orange look to the skin tone. Hence, I brought Nigel closer to the window to use natural light which gave a more accurate white balance, at the same time, diverting focus on Nigel himself rather than the background. Once my exposure was correct and satisfied with his pose and expression, I took the photo and once again prove that skills make the picture, the camera only plays a part with a low 20%.
