Apprentices Band; RAF; Halton. A large number of Aircraft Apprentices of the Royal Air Force receive a three years course of instruction in fitting; general aircraft engineering and maintenance; at No 1 School of Technical Training; Halton; Buckinghamshire. By the end of this course they are fully capable of carrying out the important duties performed by aircraftmen. There are two other training schools for Aircraft Apprentices; one at Cosford; Staffordshire; where apprentices are trained either as fitters or ritters (armourer) and the other at Cranwell; Lincolnshire; where the trades taught are wireless operator mechanic and instrument maker.
