France. Paris Commune. Popular revolutionary movement that took power in Paris from 18 March to 28 May 1871, during the Franco-Prussian War. Massacre of supporters of the "Party of Order" (conservatives) in the Place Vendome in Paris, 22 March 1871. The so-called "Friends of Order", also "Friends of Peace", held a demonstration in front of the headquarters of the National Guard, demanding the expulsion of the headquarters of the "federates" from the Place Vendome. They disarmed and attacked two sentries, provoking the reaction of two hundred federates in the square, who clashed with the demonstrators and shot at them, killing and wounding dozens of people. Drawing by Miranda. Engraving by Capuz. "Historia de la Guerra de Francia y Prusia" (History of the War between France and Prussia). Volume II. Published in Barcelona, 1871.
