Pomponius Melas Cosmographi geographia printed in 1482, a map that reflects the early voyages of the Age of Discovery. Pomponius Mela was a Roman geographer who lived during the 1st century CE. This was the first printed map to depict the Portuguese discoveries through the 1460s and 1470s, which were not present on contemporary and preceding Ptolemaic maps and atlases. The map also modified the traditional Ptolemaic rendering of western Africa to show a more accurate and up-to-date coast, including a clear southeastern trend along the coast of west Africa.
