Captain Candace Hewitt, E.R. Hewitt & wife, Lucy Hewitt, 1916. Shows Edward Ringwood Hewitt (1866-1957), inventor, chemist and an early expert on fly-fishing with his wife, Mary (Ashley) Hewitt and daughters Lucy and Candace. Photograph was probably taken at an Emergency Services Corps camp on the Hewitt estate, Passaic County, near Erskine, New Jersey, where young women were trained in shooting, military drills, hiking and other activities by Army officers in 1916.
