The buff ermine moth (Spilosoma lutea) is a member of the Erebidae family. The flight period is usually May to June in a single generation, this genus occurs across Europe and the temperate belt of the Palearctic ecozone. The larvae are pale brown and very hairy. The species is polyphagous, feeding on wide variety of trees, shrubs and other herbaceous plants. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in June.
