Poland; Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship; village of Ostromecko; Old Castle (Palac Stary): decoration at wooden staircase in the lobby. Ostromecko has tow castles: The Old Castle; dating back to a knights`estate of German Teutonic Order; first mentioned 1222. It was built 1738 - 1744 by Bogdan Mostowski as a one-storey building and extended to a two-storey building 1758-1766 in late Baroque style. Last owner was the German noble familly von Alvensleben-Sch鰊born (von Alvensleben); from 1890 to 1945. The New Castle ((Palac Nowy) was built according to plans of 1832 by architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel in classicistical style and finished in 1849 by his scholar Eduard Titz (1820 - 1890). Both castles today built the stately owned Ostromecko Castle; museum; park; hotel and restaurant (Zesp髄 Palacowo-Parkowy w Ostromecku). The Old castle today is a museum and shows; since year 2000; the Andrzej Szwalbe Collection; one of the biggest piano collections in Poland. The restored old castle has fine ornaments and decorations of knights at the staircase and flags of old Polish noble owner families Mostowski and Ostromecko in the lobby. The New Castle ((Palac Nowy) today is restaurant and hotel and will show 2022 onwards a permanent exhibition on culinary traditions in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.
