Safety Town Crowds of youngsters attend the safety first center in Queen's Park. They take it in turns to ride the vehicles. The Burnley Town Council have adopted a recommendation to provide a playground in Queen's Park during the six weeks summer holiday, where children can have safety first instruction combined with fun and games, instead of risking life and limb by playing in public streets. Safety Town they call it. It has streets, street signs, crossings and traffic lights, and policemen give up their spare time to be real policemen in this toy town. July 21, 1949.
