NETSUKE: AGITATED SITTING SHISHI.
Japan. Edo Period. 18th c.
Ivory; very finely and detailed carved; engraved and darkly stained. The muscular animal is sitting; it's left paw raised. The mouth is slightly opened; tail and crest are curly. L.4;1cm. Sign.: Karaku on rectangular reserve (by style a pupil or follower of the Osaka-artist Garaku Risuke). Condition A.
