Italy; Apulia; city of Bari: facade of Teatro Petruzzelli; built 1898 - 1903; rebuilt 1993 - 1998 and 2002 - 2009; the fourth biggest Italian theatre and opera house in terms of seat capacity (earlier 1460 seats; today 1250 seats) was built as a private theatre by the Nemagna family; which ruled the theatre until 1991; when the theatre burnt down. The reconstruction lasted until 2009; when the now stately run theatre was re-opened; with the 9th symphony of Beethoven. First performance was on 14th of February; 1903; with Gli Ugonotti of Giacomo Meyerbeer. First opera in the new theatre was Turandot of Puccini; at 6th of December; 2009.
