Notalgia paresthetica in a Hispanic female patient. This is a disorder of the nerves in the upper back that causes a persistent and sometimes painful itch just below the shoulder blades. There is often hyperpigmentation of the skin in the affected area. The itch is thought to be caused by pressure put on the nerves by injury or inflammation.
