Luxor, Egypt - 30 November 2011; Karnak is the greatest temple of Egypt, and the second largest ancient religious site in the world, after Angkor Wat. This vast complex of temple, obelisks, colonnades, pylons and chapels began during the reign of Senusret I in the Middle Kingdom (c.2055 ?c.1650 BCE) and continued into the Ptolemaic period, although most of the surviving buildings date from the New Kingdom. Here we see the main two surviving obelisk, through a grand arch.
