U.S. Launches More Destroyer Escorts -- Participants in twin launching ceremonies stand at attention in a navy yard in the Eastern U.S. as a destroyer escort (right) glides smoothly down the ways while her sister ship, with flags flying, awaits her turn to be launched at a second ceremony on the same day. During 1943 U.S. Navy yards and shipbuilding plants turned out 306 destroyer escorts, 15 aircraft carriers, 128 destroyers and 56 submarines, thus establishing a new record for warship construction in America.
