Coronation Proclaimed At Charing Cross. General view at Charing Cross as the Proclamation was read from an open carriage by the Lancaster Herald, Mr. A.G.D. Russell. With centuries-old ceremonial, the Coronation date of Queen Elizabeth II June 2, 1953 - was proclaimed in London to-day (Saturday). The Proclamation was first read from the balcony of St.James's Palace. Then the heralds went in a procession of carriages to repeat the Proclamation at Charing Cross.
