Actor wears kimono with floral crest and looks to his left. His left hand holds a red lacquer sake cup. Part of a diptych. Print inspired by a production of Tokaido Yotsuya Kaidan that was staged at the Morita-za in the 7th lunar month of 1836. A two line stream shaped element emerges from region of his heart and disappears left margin. Kimono predominantly blue with an area of key-stone red-brown, and a mauve obi. Standing to his left, a pine decoration and a black and red-brown jug. Background is black at top shading to grey and white. Blind printed (against black and grey) inscription to top right.
