The Erawan Shrine, underneath the Chit Lom Skytrain station in Bangkok, represents the four-headed Hindu god of creation, Brahma (Phra Phrom), and was erected in 1956 after a series of fatal mishaps befell the construction of the original Erawan Hotel. Brahma is the Hindu god (deva) of creation and one of the Trimurti, the others being Vishnu and Shiva. According to the Brahma Purna, he is the father of Manu, and from Manu all human beings are descended. In the Ramaya??a and the Mahabharata, he is often referred to as the progenitor or great grandsire of all human beings.
