Researcher from the Institut Oceanographique Paul Ricard taking tissue samples from a large Pen shell (Pinna nobilis), using biopsy forceps, for genetic studies in the Diana pond (Aleria, Haute-Corse). The Pen shell is a species classified as critically endangered following the epizootic (linked to a Haplosporidium parasite) which has affected the entire Mediterranean region since 2016.
