Editorial use only ASDEX Upgrade fusion reactor at the Max-Planck-Institute for Plasma Physics, Garching, Germany. The aim of ASDEX (Axially Symmetric Divertor Experiment) Upgrade, a divertor tokamak, is to prepare the physics base for the ITER and DEMO fusion experiments. For this purpose essential plasma properties, such as plasma density, plasma pressure and the wall load, are matched to the conditions in a future fusion power plant.
