Mariner 7 image of craters on the surface of Mars. This is part of the planet's south polar cap. The craters at bottom centre were nicknamed the Giant's footprint. Mariner 7 launched on 27th March 1969 on a mission to flyby the planet and return photographs. Image obtained in August 1969.
