Colchicine gout drug, chemical structure. Colchicine reduces inflammation caused by uric acid crystals that form in joints as a result of gout. This drug binds to tubulin proteins, preventing the elongation of microtubule polymers, part of a cell?檚 cytoskeleton. This inhibits inflammatory pathways in the body. Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: hydrogen (white), carbon (green), oxygen (red), nitrogen (blue).
