Artist and prehistorian standing next to a replica of the rhinoceros alcove found in Chauvet Cave, France. The replica was created for the Caverne du Pont d'Arc site, France. The replica drawing uses charcoal that is similar to that the Aurignacian artists used 37,000 years ago. The Caverne du Pont d'Arc is a replica of the Chauvet Cave, Ardeche, France. It was constructed to preserve Chauvet Cave's Palaeolithic (stone age) figurative cave paintings. The Caverne du Pont-d'Arc opened to the public on the 25th April 2015.
