The replica drawing uses charcoal that is similar to that the Aurignacian artists used 37,000 years ago. The Caverne du Pont d'Arc is a replica of the Chauvet Cave, Ardeche, France. It was constructed to preserve Chauvet Cave's Palaeolithic (stone age) figurative cave paintings. The Caverne du Pont-d'Arc opened to the public on the 25th April 2015.
