The picture has been ascribed to Bronzino's gifted contemporary Francesco Salviati and, more plausibly, to Michele di Ridolfo Tosini (1503?1577), who participated in the decorations for the entry of Emperor Charles V in Florence in 1539 and later painted portraits of the entourage of Duke Cosimo de'Medici
