Hurricane Florence. View from the International Space Station (ISS) of Hurricane Florence making landfall in the USA on 14 September 2018. It made landfall as a category 1 hurricane near Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. This storm formed on 30 August, reaching hurricane strength on 4-5 September, weakening, and then regaining hurricane strength by 9 September. It made landfall in the south-eastern and mid-Atlantic USA from 14-15 September, causing extensive flooding and destruction from rain, wind and storm surges. States of emergency and evacuation orders were declared along the threatened coasts (North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia). Photographed during Expedition 56 to the ISS.
