Roosevelt Elk herd (Cervus canadensis roosevelti) in Redwood National Park. The herd tends to keep the young surrounded for protection. This herd is commonly seen in or near the Park. Also known as Olympic Elk, these are the largest of the four surviving subspecies of elk in North America. They live in the rain forests of the Pacific Northwest.
