Those who have been identified include the middle three in the back row (left to right): Professor of Botany Lowell Fitz Randolph (1894-1980), Professor of Plant Breeding Rollins Adams Emerson (1873-1947), and US geneticist George Beadle (1903-1989). Beadle was working as a teaching assistant at Cornell. His later work in genetics led to him being awarded half the 1958 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
