Admiral Rodney presents the captured French Admiral Francois de Grasse to King George III. The disgruntled Charles James Fox and Admiral Keppel stand to either side. Rodney had defeated de Grasse in the Battle of the Saintes, during the American War of Independence. It was a blow to the coalition - Fox had recently granted the inferior Admiral Pigot Rodney's post as a political favour. A public apology had to be issued to quell rumours of corruption
