The Bourse Khediviale (Royal Exchange) in Cairo, Egypt - used as a Hostel for Australasian Troops (Anzac) fighting in WW1. Connected to this image is 'The Battle of the Wazzir', a riot that took place in Cairo on 2nd April 1915. The riot took hold in "Haret el Wasser", a street boasting a number of brothels and bars. At its peak about 2,500 Australian and New Zealand soldiers were involved, many of whom were intoxicated. The Anzac Hotel itself was sacked following another riot following the end of the war in 1919.
