'A small hinged brass tobacco tin engraved on reverse - (2856 Private) Arthur C. Stephenson and dated 1918. Together with an engraved badge of the East Yorkshire Regiment with the place names of Merris and Nieppe. The 31st Division beat off the assaults of German divisions in that location on 12th-14th April 1918 and according to Ray Westlake's 'Kitchener's Army', the 31st Division was made up of the 92nd, 93rd and 94th Brigades . The 92nd Brigade contained, among others, the the 11th Battalion The East Yorkshire Regiment (2nd Hull) so it would seem that Stephenson was one of Kitchener's Army. Trench Art'
