The giant cunard liner, 'Lusitania', in the First World War, was attacked by a German U-boat on 7 May 1915 and sank in 18 minutes killing 1198 people. This picture here, was drawn by Fortunio Matania with the assistance of eye-witnesses, showing rescuers pulling passengers from the cold sea onto rowing boats
