The mid 1970s saw a number of innovative appliance designs come into play as the London Fire Brigade adapted to an ever changing and more Health and Safety conscious working environment. This converted single decker bus was adapted by the London Fire Brigade's workshops to provided a clean and dry area for firefighters to change their air cylinders and maintain their BA sets in an enclosed space. Normally they did this in the street and in all weathers. However it was never introduced -- its only operational deployment was when it was sent to the Moorgate tube disaster as a rest area for the rescue teams. Here it is pictured at its base location, Lambeth fire station SE1.
