Aneurin Bevan, also known as Nye Bevan (1897-1960), Welsh Labour politician. He served as Minister of Health in the mid-20th century, and was responsible for the creation of the National Health Service in 1948. Seen here with his wife, Jennie Lee (Baroness Lee of Asheridge, 1904-1988), Scottish Labour politician and MP, Arts Minister under Harold Wilson. She played a key role in the formation of the Open University.
