A letter to Thomas Henry Ismay from twenty of his colleagues and employees on White Star Works headed paper, dated Bootle, 6 February 1899. Having been invited to attend the launch of the RMS Oceanic, they are enclosing a 'paper clip' as a memento of the event, with their best wishes for the future success and prosperity of the White Star Line. Ismay was a shipbuilder, and Chairman of the White Star Line. He died later the same year.
