A sequence of two photographs illustrating 'A very serviceable way to disable a taller man than yourself when opposed to him under unequal conditions' from 'Self-Defence with a Walking-Stick' an article by Edward William Barton-Wright (1860 - 1951) in Pearson's Magazine, February 1901. Barton-Wright developed his own form of martial art called Bartitsu after studying in Japan.
