Phytoplankton bloom in the northeastern Pacific Ocean. Recent studies place the ecosystems of the northeastern Pacific at increasing risk from ocean acidification and hypoxia as humans continue to warm the climate by burning fossil fuels. The data used to construct the above MODIS/VIIRS composite were collected on March 30, 2016.
