An antibody linked stain has bound to the cancerous cells and stained them pink. The carcinoma is surrounded by healthy breast tissue (purple). Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the developed world. Treatment includes surgical removal of the tumor (lumpectomy) or of the breast (mastectomy), radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy.
