"The rule of the north star, and distance to raise or lay 1 degree of latitude, and the almanac for January and February, in Brouscon's Tide-tables and Almanac of c. 1545." Guillaume Brouscon was a Breton mapmaker of the Dieppe school in the 16th century. He published his "Brouscon's Almanachs," which was filled with charts and tide tables and other navigational aids. It was used by English, French and Breton sailors.
