An aerial photograph of the excavations of the Babylonian (now Iraq) Ishtar Gate. Photographed in the 1970's. The Istar Gate is believed to have been constructed in 575 BC by King Nebuchadnezzar II. It was dedicated to the goddess Ishtar.
