Fortified church of Prejmer (Tartlau) in Transylvania, Romania. The cross-shaped church dates from the mid-13th Century, transformation into a fortress took place later. The Transylvanian Saxons (Siebenburger Sachsen) fortified their churches as communal refuges in the 14th Century and onwards in times of war and mostly against marauders.
