The Westbury White Horse in Wiltshire. The horse, 51 m long and 50 m high, has been cut 1778, possibly replacing a horse from 878 AD commemorating King Alfred's victory at Ethandun. It has been cut into the turf on the slope below the western end of Bratton Castle, a hill fort from Neolithic to Iron Age times. The proximity to the hill fort perhaps suggests even more ancient horses at this site (ENGLAND).
