Aerial photo of the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania. In 1979, Three Mile Island reactor 2 suffered a partial meltdown, resulting in release of radioactive gases, wastewater, and iodine. It was the worst nuclear plant accident in US history. This is a view of the plant in the early 1990s. Reactor 1 is still in operation.
