Larval crustaceans are common in the surface waters of the ocean and even down to moderate depths. This phyllosoma is the larval stage of a lobster (spiny, slipper or coral lobster) in one of these families: Palinuridae, Scyllaridae and Synaxidae. This specimen was collected from between 750 meters depth and the surface, Florida Straits, July 2016.
